The length is the measurement of the insole, not the sole. This type of construction creates a non-usable step, so we don't count it. The width is measured from the space between the straps. It is not advisable to leave more than 5mm for the length. If you are between two sizes, we recommend ordering the smaller one; don't be alarmed if it's one or two sizes smaller than your usual size. Leaving more or less margin depends on personal preference.
